Fastest and most powerful BitTorrent client. View the status of a torrent, upload and download files. Support for multiple trackers and magnet links. Multiple simultaneous connections.Search and sort by any criteria including: leechers, seeders and file size. Split and join torrents. Matching video and audio streams. View files being downloaded and play media content. Support for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. BitTorrent (bittorrent) is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol that is used to send and receive large amounts of data between computer users. Unlike other protocols such as HTTP and FTP, where data is transferred between servers, BitTorrent transfers data directly from one user's computer to another. BitTorrent is the original peer-to-peer file-sharing protocol. It was designed to share files over public networks like the Internet. BitTorrent is optimized for transferring large files, as opposed to smaller files that are more appropriate for HTTP or FTP. It was designed as a replacement for the pirate file sharing protocol Napster. BitTorrent was created in the late 1990s by Bram Cohen. He was a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign at the time, and developed the project while working at the school's computer science department. He also made the first release of the protocol available for download in January of 2000. The first public release of BitTorrent was made available for download on October 1, 2001. The BitTorrent project was eventually purchased by Skype. Since then, it has been developed and maintained by the non-profit BitTorrent Inc., a company whose goal is to promote the use of BitTorrent and other peer-to-peer technologies. BitTorrent is open source software, released under the GPL license. This means that it is free to use, free to modify, free to distribute and free to build upon. It can also be downloaded and installed on any computer system. What is a tracker? Tracker is an application, used in the BitTorrent protocol, that allows leechers and seeds to find peers on the Internet and exchange data with them. Normally, the tracker is not visible to users and is run on a dedicated server, accessible only to other torrents users. When you start downloading a torrent, your torrent client will first connect to the tracker of the torrent, check if there are other peers available and then request them to start sharing data with you. There are different types of trackers, but they are broadly divided into three types: Direct: Direct trackers are independent trackers, with no affiliation to any tracker. They can be used in cases where there are no trackers available or a tracker is not functional. Provided: Tracker providers are trackers that are affiliated with one or more other trackers. The purpose of this design is to provide a more convenient interface for the users, by presenting a directory of the other trackers, instead of dealing
